Your Weekend Getaway Itinerary

Day 1 (Friday): Arrival, Check-in & Riverside Evening

Your weekend adventure begins as you arrive at Ramnagar Railway Station or Bus Stand (we recommend the early morning trains from Delhi like the Ranikhet Express or Kathgodam Shatabdi). Our representative will greet you and transfer you to your pre-booked riverside resort (approx. 20-30 minute drive). Upon arrival, enjoy a refreshing welcome drink and complete a swift check-in. After settling into your comfortable, air-conditioned room, head for a delicious lunch at the resort's restaurant. Post lunch, you have the option to relax by the pool, take a nap, or simply unwind on the resort's deck overlooking the Kosi river. In the late afternoon (around 4:00 PM), join a guided nature walk along the river bed – a perfect introduction to the region's birds, butterflies, and riverside flora. As dusk settles, gather around a campside bonfire (seasonal) where you'll enjoy hot snacks and tea/coffee. Our naturalist will share jungle stories and tips for the next day's safari. Followed by a hearty dinner at the resort.

Day 2 (Saturday): Morning Safari & Leisure Day

This is the highlight of your weekend! Wake up early (around 5:30 AM) and enjoy a quick tea/coffee before heading out for your morning jeep safari. Your private or shared jeep (based on group size) will take you into one of Corbett's beautiful zones – typically Bijrani, Jhirna, or Dhela, known for consistent wildlife sightings. The safari lasts approximately 3-4 hours, during which you may spot the Royal Bengal Tiger, Asian Elephants, Spotted Deer, Sambar, Wild Boar, and a dazzling array of birds like peacocks, kingfishers, and hornbills. Your experienced naturalist guide will share fascinating insights about the jungle ecosystem. Return to the resort by 9:30 AM for a sumptuous breakfast. The rest of the day is yours to enjoy – you can relax by the pool, indulge in a massage (at extra cost), read a book on the lawn, or simply nap after the early morning. For the more adventurous, you can opt for an optional afternoon village tour (additional cost) to experience local Kumaoni culture. In the evening, enjoy another bonfire session followed by a delicious dinner. Share your safari photographs and stories with fellow travelers.

Day 3 (Sunday): Breakfast & Departure with Memories

Enjoy a leisurely breakfast at the resort – no early morning rush today! After breakfast, you have some free time to take a final dip in the pool, buy souvenirs from the resort shop, or simply soak in the last views of the Kosi river and surrounding hills. Check-out time is 11:00 AM. Our representative will then transfer you back to Ramnagar Railway Station or Bus Stand in time for your afternoon train/bus back to Delhi. As you journey home, you'll carry back refreshed energy, beautiful wildlife photographs, and wonderful memories of your Corbett weekend getaway.

Weekend Safari Routes & Zones

Our weekend package includes a safari in one of Corbett's most productive zones. Based on season and availability, we recommend the following:

Popular Weekend Safari Route (Bijrani Zone)

01
Resort to Bijrani Gate

A scenic 12 km drive from most resorts. The approach road itself offers bird watching opportunities and occasional elephant sightings.

02
Malani Forest Trail

Enter the dense Sal forest – the core area of Bijrani. This zone is known for high tiger density and frequent sightings of elephants and deer.

03
Kanda Ridge (Open Grassland)

Climb up to Kanda Ridge – the landscape opens into beautiful rolling grasslands. A favorite spot for tiger ambushes and excellent for panoramic photography.

04
Mandan Talla Waterhole

Visit the natural waterhole – a magnet for wildlife especially in summer months. Here you may witness animals coming to drink, including sambar, wild boar, and occasionally tiger or leopard.

05
Return via Phanda Trail

Take the scenic Phanda trail on return – known for its abundant birdlife including crested serpent eagles, great hornbills, and kingfishers.

Alternative Weekend Safari Zones

Depending on the season and permit availability, we also offer:

  • Jhirna Zone: Open all year round. Great for sloth bear sightings and birding. Smoother roads – ideal for families with seniors.
  • Dhela Zone: Newly opened, less crowded, excellent for wildlife photography due to open landscapes and good light.
  • Sitabani Buffer Zone: Perfect for last-minute bookings when core zone permits are sold out. Consistent leopard and elephant sightings.

Essential Information for Your Weekend Getaway

Best Time for a Weekend Getaway

The Corbett weekend getaway can be enjoyed from November to June. The park is closed during monsoons (July to October). For the best tiger sighting chances, plan your weekend in April to June (summer) – though it will be hot, the wildlife sightings are most reliable. For pleasant weather, lush greenery, and comfortable temperatures, choose November to February (winter). Weekend packages are available for both Friday-Sunday or Saturday-Monday departures.

How to Reach Ramnagar for Your Weekend Trip

Ramnagar is well-connected by road and rail from Delhi NCR and other North Indian cities:

  • By Train (Recommended): Take the Ranikhet Express (departs Delhi at 10:30 PM, reaches Ramnagar at 4:30 AM) or Kathgodam Shatabdi (departs Delhi at 6:15 AM, reaches Ramnagar at 11:30 AM). We can arrange pick-up from any train.
  • By Road: Drive from Delhi (approx. 260 km, 5-6 hours) via Hapur - Gajraula - Moradabad - Ramnagar. We can provide parking at the resort.
  • By Bus: Regular buses from Delhi's Anand Vihar ISBT to Ramnagar (overnight or day buses).

Weekend Safety & Guidelines

Your safety is our priority. Please note:

  • Listen to your naturalist guide at all times during the safari.
  • Do not stand up or lean out of the safari jeep.
  • Wear neutral-colored clothing (khaki, olive, brown) for the safari – avoid bright colors and whites.
  • Carry a hat, sunscreen, sunglasses, and water bottle (especially in summer).
  • Bring binoculars and a camera for the best experience (binoculars available on rent).
  • Keep your phone on silent during the safari – loud noises disturb wildlife.

Frequently Asked Questions - Corbett Weekend Getaway

Can I do this weekend trip from Delhi?

Absolutely! The Corbett weekend getaway is specifically designed for Delhi/NCR residents. You can catch the overnight Ranikhet Express on Friday night, reach Ramnagar on Saturday morning, enjoy a full day of activities, and return Sunday evening. Many of our guests do exactly this!

Is one safari enough to see a tiger?

While no safari can guarantee a tiger sighting, our carefully chosen zones (Bijrani, Jhirna) have a 60-70% tiger sighting probability during a single morning safari. For higher chances, we recommend our 2-night package with two safaris. But even if you don't spot a tiger, you will see elephants, deer, crocodiles, and numerous birds – making your weekend truly memorable.

What is the cost of the weekend package?

Our weekend getaway package is affordably priced starting from ₹4,999 per person (based on double sharing, off-season). The cost includes: 2 nights accommodation, all meals (breakfast, lunch, dinner), 1 jungle safari with naturalist, bonfire with snacks, nature walk, and round-trip transfers from Ramnagar. Train/flight costs are not included. Please contact us for the exact price based on your travel dates.

Can I add a second safari to my weekend package?

Yes, absolutely! You can upgrade your weekend getaway to include a second safari (either an evening safari on Day 1 or a second morning safari on Day 2) for an additional cost. Please let us know at the time of booking so we can arrange permits.

What should I pack for the weekend?

Pack light and smart for your weekend escape: comfortable cotton clothes for the day, a light jacket or sweater for mornings/evenings (winter months), comfortable walking shoes, hat/cap, sunglasses, sunscreen, personal toiletries, camera, binoculars (or rent from us), power bank, and any personal medications. Leave heavy suitcases behind – one small duffel bag per person is ideal.
